GREMALTES (Greater Madras Leprosy Treatment and Education scheme) pioneer in urban leprosy control program started in 1971 with 16 bedded hospital. Mr. Gershon is the Founder and the first Managing Director of Gremaltes Hospital. Considering the density of the population and the enormousness of the slums, Government of Tamil Nadu allocated North Chennai as the project area to provide leprosy support services to 16, 00,000 population. An Integrated Health care facility focused on persons affected by stigmatized diseases, and a partner in the inclusive development the disadvantaged people in the community.
